Damar Hamlin and the American Heart Association Inspires Bystanders to Become Lifesavers Public Service Announcement

Release Date: 28 Jan 2025
Damar Hamlin AHA Nation of Lifesavers (TV) – 15 Secs.

NFL player and cardiac arrest survivor Damar Hamlin has an important message this American Heart Month: Be Ready. Learn CPR. Following the Buffalo Bills safety’s cardiac arrest during Monday Night Football on January 2, 2023, Hamlin has become a driving force behind the American Heart Association’s Nation of Lifesavers movement, inspiring individuals to be ready to save lives where they live, work, and play by learning CPR.

In this new public service announcement, Hamlin highlights the movement’s crucial mission: equipping teens and adults with the confidence and skills to respond in a cardiac emergency.

You never know when it’s going to be your opportunity to step in and save a life. CPR and AEDs – are why I’m still here today. Giving someone the skills and power to save a life is a superpower if you ask me.” Damar Hamlin

Nearly 3 out of 4 cardiac arrests happen at home, which means you may be called on to save the life of someone you love. Immediate CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival, yet less than half of people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest receive CPR before emergency personnel arrive.

By airing this PSA, you’re helping Damar and the American Heart Association save lives by turning bystanders into lifesavers. To learn how to save a life in 90 seconds, visit www.heart.org/nation
