Former NFL Football Star Brett Favre Combats Distracted Driving in Florida with New PSA
Dear Public Service Director,
In 2016, there were more than 50,000 distracted driving- related crashes in Florida, resulting in more than 200 fatalities, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
According to research done by Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, individuals who used text messaging increased the risk of a crash or near-crash by two times and resulted in drivers taking their eyes off the road for an average of 23 seconds. We must change this and refuse to lose the ones we love.
Your station can make a difference by airing a new PSA to help increase awareness and understanding of distracted driving.
Florida Farm Bureau has teamed up with the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America to encourage the general public to put the phone down and focus on the road.
We encourage you to put this PSA into your rotation and appreciate your consideration.
